San Diego Farmers Markets by Day: 2026 Guide

San Diego has a farmers market somewhere almost every day of the week, and the two biggest in the city are the Little Italy Mercato (Saturdays 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., plus a smaller Wednesday edition) and the Hillcrest Farmers Market (Sundays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.). If you are a visitor with one free morning, pick whichever of those falls on your trip. The day-by-day schedule below covers the rest, from the Tuesday afternoon market in Pacific Beach to Ocean Beach’s Wednesday evening street party.
All hours below were checked against the City of San Diego farmers market calendar, the markets’ own pages and a May 2026 countywide market roundup. Hours shift seasonally at some markets and holiday weeks can change things, so check the market’s own page the week you go.

The big weekend markets
Little Italy Mercato (Saturday and Wednesday)
The Mercato takes over West Date Street from Kettner Boulevard to Front Street every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., year round. It is the city’s largest street market and mixes farm stands with flowers, bread, cheese, prepared food and crafts. Come before 10 a.m. for the best produce and the shortest lines at the coffee and breakfast stalls. The Wednesday edition (9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) is smaller and more relaxed, and it is a good option if you are downtown midweek.
Little Italy farmers market parking: Do not count on finding a street spot after about 9 a.m. on a Saturday. The neighborhood association’s parking guide lists the Piazza della Famiglia underground garage (hourly, two-hour minimum) and the County of San Diego structure at 1536 Kettner Blvd, which is open to the public on weekends from 6 a.m. Rates change, so check the posted signs. The easier option is the Trolley: the County Center/Little Italy stop is a few blocks from the market.
Little Italy is a short walk from the waterfront, so the Mercato pairs well with a stroll along the Embarcadero to Seaport Village.
Hillcrest Farmers Market (Sunday)
Hillcrest’s Sunday market runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine and on holidays, with more than 175 vendors that rotate weekly. It is known for its prepared-food row, which has a wide mix of cuisines. Plan to eat lunch here.
Two things have changed that older guides miss. First, the market moved in January 2025 from its long-time Normal Street site to University Avenue between Herbert Street and Park Boulevard while the Normal Street Promenade is built. (The “Hillcrest mall farmers market” name some people search for refers to this same market.) Second, according to the market’s site, street parking in Hillcrest is free on Sundays, and there is free parking at the DMV lot at Normal Street and Lincoln Avenue. Pets are not allowed, except for service animals, and the market does not accept EBT.
La Jolla Open Aire Market (Sunday)
The La Jolla market fills Girard Avenue at Genter Street every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is set up beside La Jolla Elementary School, and proceeds benefit the school. It is smaller than Hillcrest but has a strong mix of produce, flowers, crafts and international food stalls, and it is a few minutes’ drive from the coast. Go to the market first, then head down to La Jolla Cove to watch the sea lions before the late-morning crowds arrive.
Parking in La Jolla village is tight on weekends. Arrive near opening time, or look for a spot on the residential streets east of Girard and walk in.
Point Loma (Sunday) and Mission Valley (Saturday)
The Liberty Station market in Point Loma (Sundays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) is an easy add-on if you are already visiting the restaurants and galleries at Liberty Station. Mission Valley’s Saturday morning market at Civita is a neighborhood market with good parking. It is handy if you are staying near the Mission Valley hotels.
Weekday markets
Tuesday: Pacific Beach, Coronado, Mira Mesa and UCSD
- Pacific Beach Tuesday Market (2 to 7 p.m.) sets up on Bayard Street just off Garnet Avenue. It is an after-work market with produce, ready-to-eat food and a beach-town crowd. It is a short walk from the boardwalk and Belmont Park in Mission Beach.
- Coronado Farmers Market (2:30 to 6 p.m.) is held at the Coronado Ferry Landing, at the compass on First Street. You can ride the Coronado ferry from downtown, shop, and catch the sunset over the bay before heading back.
- Mira Mesa (10510 Reagan Road) starts at 3 p.m. and closes earlier in November and December (6 p.m.) than in the main season (7 p.m.).
- UCSD Farmers Market runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Epstein Family Amphitheater on most Tuesdays during weeks 1 to 10 of the fall, winter and spring quarters. It does not run in summer or between quarters. The UC San Diego Central Campus Trolley station is a short walk away. Check the amphitheater’s market page for current dates.
Wednesday: Ocean Beach and Little Italy
The Ocean Beach Farmers Market closes the 4900 block of Newport Avenue from 4 to 8 p.m. It is part produce market and part street fair, with food stalls, live music and a very OB crowd. It is the best choice in the city if you want a market in the evening rather than the morning. The OB Pier is at the west end of Newport, so you can walk out over the water at sunset.
Downtown visitors also have the Wednesday Little Italy Mercato (9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.).
Thursday: North Park
North Park’s Thursday market (3 to 7:30 p.m.) runs on North Park Way between 29th and 30th streets. It is a compact neighborhood market close to North Park’s breweries and restaurants. There is also a Thursday afternoon market in Linda Vista.
Friday: Rancho Bernardo area
People searching for a Rancho Bernardo farmers market usually end up at the Friday morning market at Bernardo Winery (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.), which is held on the grounds of a historic winery in the hills near Pomerado Road.
Markets that have changed or moved
- Hillcrest moved from Normal Street to University Avenue in 2025 (see above).
- Golden Hill: The old B Street market in Golden Hill no longer appears on the city’s 2026 farmers market calendar or in current countywide listings. If you are staying near Golden Hill or South Park, North Park (Thursday) and Hillcrest (Sunday) are the closest regular markets.
- Downtown San Diego: There is no large certified farmers market in the Gaslamp or East Village core. For downtown, Little Italy is the market to visit. The weekend Gaslamp Artisan Market on Fifth Avenue sells crafts and gifts, not produce.
Open-air and artisan markets
If you are looking for an open-air market in San Diego with more crafts than produce, try the Gaslamp Artisan Market (Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the 400 and 500 blocks of Fifth Avenue) or the Harney Street Market in Old Town (weekends, with hours that change by season). Both are listed on the city calendar. For Asian produce and specialty groceries that weekly markets don’t carry, look into San Diego’s Asian supermarkets in Convoy and Mira Mesa.
Tips for visiting San Diego farmers markets
- Go early for produce, late for deals. The best strawberries and stone fruit sell out first. Near closing time, some vendors will make a deal rather than pack up a full crate.
- Bring cash and a bag. Most vendors take cards and phone payments, but cash still makes small purchases quicker, and reusable bags are expected.
- Know what is in season. Southern California markets have citrus and avocados most of the year, strawberries in spring, and stone fruit and tomatoes in summer. Persimmons and apples from the back country show up in fall.
- Check pet rules. Hillcrest bans pets other than service animals, and other certified markets have similar rules because food is sold.
- Use transit for the big two. Little Italy has a Trolley stop nearby, and Hillcrest is on several bus routes. You can skip parking at both.
