Stalks laden with seeds sway heavily in the breeze. They are testimony of the desert's ability to sustain life.

If you take the time to look, you will find that the desert is vibrant with colors: reds, yellows, white, purples, and greens too.

Left: sand verbana grow in clusters and pop up from the coarse sand.

Right: Lupin flowers can be found at higher elevations. These flowers stand like soldiers in defiance of the chilly evenings.
