Anza Borrego CampingAnza Borrego camping is made easy with over 200 camp sites organized into 14 official campgrounds. Campgrounds are designated as "developed" or "primitive".  There are 6 developed campgrounds which may have one or more of these facilities: drinking water, showers, flush toilets, picnic tables, shade ramadas, fire rings, and wheelchair accessibility. Not surprisingly, these developed campsites are fairly popular and can get quite busy. Reservations can be made up to 7 months in advance and no later than 48 hours in advance: call 800-444-7275 for details. Reservations are not needed from May 15 to October 1st. These summer months are very hot and hiking/camping is not recommended unless you are very familiar and skilled in such conditions.
Checkout time is 12 noon. Quiet Hours are from 10 pm to 8 am. Generators may be used from 10 am to 8 pm. Campsites are between $7 to $53.  Primitive campgrounds are not as bad as they sound. Indeed, these campsites are less crowded, are more clean, and are great for those who want to get away from it all. There are no flush toilets (pit or chemical toilets only) and minimal (if any) amenities. None of the primitive campsites have water so be sure you bring your own.
