OB Pier is the longest concrete pier in the West Coast: it is 1,971 feet (601 m) long.
Gate that leads to the Pier: formally located at 1950 Abbott St, San Diego, CA
Bordering in the south end of Ocean Beach, this pier allows you to fish from the pier without a license. A bait and tackle shop is located at the end of the pier. Catch regulations are enforced 24 hours a day. Please obey the rules and play nice.
OB Pier is very user friendly and has restrooms, bait and tackle shop, snack shop, fish cleaning stations, benches, lights, and free parking at the foot of the pier. Wheelchair accessible.
If you're not interesting in fishing, this pier is still a great place for a walk. Sea, Sun, and Surfers! The south end of Ocean Beach near the Pier is a great area for surfing. It's not unusual to see dozens of surfers riding the waves. If you are fishing, take care not to hook a surfer.
||During the daytime, Ocean Beach Pier is quite safe and people will regularly bring their kids to fish. They don't always catch something (indeed, they usually don't), but they have a great time trying. Afterward, you can take them for an ice cream in the OB shopping district on Newport Ave.|
A laid-back eatery at the end of the Pier. It used to be called O.B. Pier Cafe but is now WOW (Walking on Water) Cafe. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Serving up : tacos, fish and chips, and the like.
Reviews vary greatly: some find the food mediocre, the place grimy, and the service so-so. Others think it's great food, great price, great service, and great view. You decide for yourself.
In addition to human food, you can also buy fish food here.
