Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks
One of the best things about Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks is that everybody goes there: the young & restless, families, elderly couples, students and businessmen. It's all for the love of casual dining.
Islands Fine Burgers and Drinks is loud, noisy, and fun. There are large screen TV's hung everywhere showing incredible surfing scenes and other extreme sports. Even surfers "wow" over some of the waves caught on screen. This restaurant review pertains to the La Jolla branch on Nobel Drive.
Not surprising, Islands Fine Burgers serves up predominantly burgers and fries. But it also has a decent selection of salads, tacos, sandwiches, and you can always ask to change your burger to a veggi-burger.
- appetizers: spinach artichoke dip, buffalo wings, chicken tenders, onion rings, and of course, their famous fries (with skins and no trans fat)
- Hamburgers: you've got your hamburgers, veggi burgers, chicken burger, chili burger, Hawaiian burgers,...
- Soups & Salads: only one tortilla soup but lots of salads including your classic garden salad and Caesar salad, but more interestingly the big salad "meals" such as the Wiqui Waqui BBQ.
- Tacos: fish, chicken, pork, or vegetarian. Yum.
- Desserts: two chocolate lovers delight (Kona Pie, Chocolate Lava) and a bunch of healthy fruit blended smoothies.
Take note: the French fries are the irregularly-shaped, homemade kind that still have their skins on. Onion rings are the crispy, shoestring type which are skinny and very "well done".
Children's Menu available, plus it comes with crayons and a fun booklet filled with coloring pages, mazes, crossword puzzles, and connect the dots. In combination with the big screen TV and the cool Islander decor, this place is a big hit with kids!
Wine and beer available.
Islands Fine Burgers supports a healthy lifestyle which includes exercise and a balanced diet. Most menu items can be made more healthy according to your specification.
Noisy but fun. Large screen TV's will entertain you with surf scenes and other extreme sports. Decor attempts to simulate Islander feel with thatched roofs, giant parrots & cockatoos, Islander masks, surf boards, and photos of beach scenes.
Tables are almost all booth style with the exception of a few tables at the bar. Table tops have nice surf board designs. Bathrooms are clean.
